The IGCSE Accounting programme is intended to provide learners with an understanding of fundamental principles, procedures and terms related to accounting.The study of Accounting will help learners acquire the skill of recording, classifying and summarising financial transactions.
It will also develop in them the skills of interpreting, problem solving, reporting financial information and decision making in the changing economic, social and technological environment.It will help learners to develop skills of communication, analysis and presentation of both qualitative and quantitative accounting information.
The subject aims at developing in learners moral and ethical values necessary for accountability in financial matters. Through the study of Accounting, learners should be able to develop an appreciation of neatness, orderliness, thoroughness and accuracy in their daily lives.
MODE OF ASSESSMENT:
The IGCSE Accounting syllabus takes two years to complete, with an annual examination in November.
The examination consists of.
Paper 1 Multiple choice paper of 40 compulsory questions (to be taken by all students, based on the Core Curriculum) 1 Hour 40%
Paper 2 Structured questions (to be taken by all students, based on the Core Curriculum) 1 ½ Hours 60%
Paper 3 More difficult structured questions to be taken by Extended Candidates (if a student takes the Paper 3 Extended paper, Paper 1 will be counted as 0%, Paper 2 - 40%) 1 ¾ Hours 60%

On gaining a full pass in the IGCSE examination, typical areas of employment would be:
