This subject is divided into two sections:
- Language - Exam: 2 hours 30 minutes
- Literature - Exam: 1 hour 30 minutes
LANGUAGE SECTION
Students are taught and examined in the following areas:
- Composition - Argumentative, Narrative, Factual
- Directed writing - Article, Report, Speech
- Comprehension and Summary
A passage will be set of approximately one/two pages followed by a series of questions and a summary exercise. Language exercises will cover the general understanding of Linguistics.
- Translation - students are expected to translate from English to Setswana and vice-versa.
LITERATURE SECTION
Students are taught and examined in the following areas:
- Short stories
- Prose
- Drama
- Poetry (Modern and Traditional)
- Unseen Poetry
NB: All aspects of Literature such as climax characterisation, conflicts, setting and theme will be taught to allow students to be in a position to answer any questions.
