Headmaster
Message from the Senior Headmaster of our School:
Thank you for displaying an interest in our school.
Today, borders between countries are becoming extinct and a need has arisen to obtain an education with an international flavour and credibility.
At the International School of South Africa (ISSA) your son or daughter will have a unique opportunity to become a member of this international community. This school offers opportunities for boys and girls who, when they leave, will be able to play a meaningful role in the global environment.
ISSA, centrally situated in Mafikeng in the heart of the African continent, is blessed with students drawn from South Africa, Africa and abroad. In this cosmopolitan environment, the students are offered a holistic education and are taught by staff, who have in turn been trained at the best universities in the world. The school is a Cambridge International Fellowship Centre and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (CIE) underwrites the IGCSE, HIGCSE, AS and A-level qualifications offered at the International School ensuring that the standards of teaching and examining are of the highest order.
Students have, over the years, gained acceptance at universities such as Oxford, Princeton, Harvard and Yale. A recent survey has shown that the majority of our students continue into tertiary education at universities in South Africa and beyond, in Europe, America, Canada and Australia. The outstanding success rates of our students at these tertiary institutions is a credit not only to the school, but also to the quality of the Cambridge curriculum.
The 54 hectare school campus is beautiful, situated among the thorn trees of the bushveld and within the borders of South Africa. The school offers an eclectic African experience; outdoor opportunities abound for visits to nearby game parks, and students are regularly exposed to leadership and personal growth opportunities in South Africa and the African veld.
Our aim is to achieve excellence by setting rigorous academic, sporting and cultural standards in an on open and challenging environment. We believe the school should be a microcosm of the real working world.
You are cordially invited to contact us at the school and to pay us a visit. We would be most willing to take you on a conducted tour of the campus. I look forward to meeting you.
Mr J A J Haupt
